What is a restaurant electrical job?

Restaurant electrical jobs involve the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within restaurants. This includes wiring, lighting, kitchen equipment, ventilation systems, and safety devices such as emergency lighting and fire alarms. Electricians in this field ensure that all electrical systems comply with safety codes and operate efficiently to support daily restaurant operations. They may also troubleshoot electrical issues and upgrade equipment to improve energy efficiency. These roles are essential for keeping restaurant environments safe and fully functional.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a restaurant electrician?

To thrive as a Restaurant Electrician, you need a strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety codes, typically supported by completion of an electrician apprenticeship or relevant certification. Familiarity with electrical diagnostic tools, circuit testers, and building automation systems is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure safe, reliable operation of restaurant equipment and minimize downtime, which is critical for uninterrupted service.

What are some common challenges restaurant electricians face, and how can they effectively address them?

Restaurant electricians often encounter challenges such as working around tight schedules to minimize downtime during business hours, troubleshooting complex kitchen equipment, and ensuring all electrical systems meet strict safety and health regulations. Building expertise in restaurant-specific appliances and maintaining flexibility can help electricians succeed in this dynamic work setting.

Job description

Maintenance Manager

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across our restaurant group — including multiple Little Caesars locations, Greek restaurants, and a liquor store. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all equipment, facilities, and systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in peak condition.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, and proactive — capable of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of kitchen, refrigeration, HVAC, and building systems. They will also coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary, manage preventive maintenance schedules (PMIs), and maintain accurate service records to ensure all locations run smoothly and without interruption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or coordinate repairs on kitchen equipment, refrigeration units, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for all stores.
  • Ensure all work — in-house or outsourced — is completed efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
  • Track and organize maintenance logs, invoices, and vendor service reports.
  • Work closely with operations leadership to address urgent repairs and long-term facility improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge of restaurant equipment and building systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair or coordinate repairs across multiple locations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in a multi-unit restaurant or retail maintenance role preferred.

The global chain that Little Caesars is today began with a blind date between Mike Ilitch and Marian Bayoff that was arranged by Mike’s father in 1954. Within just a matter of months, the couple was married. We continue to be a family owned business that believes in hard work, having fun and making it so every family can afford pizza night.
