Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule, working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:30) with every other weekend required.

The Registered Nurse will rotate between acute and long-term care settings, providing comprehensive care to patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections. The role requires experience in critical care and emergency settings, with a focus on effective patient assessment, ventilator management, and pulmonary hygiene.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs
  • Manage ventilators and provide care for patients on BiPAP and CPAP
  • Administer oxygen therapy using various devices
  • Assist with airway management and intubation
  • Conduct nebulizer treatments and tracheostomy care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care with teams including physical therapy and respiratory services

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in Adult Critical Care or Emergency Department
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York, verified prior to submission
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certifications required
  • Experience with Epic charting system preferred
