Job description

General Purpose
Provide operational support for resource planning, generation scheduling, outage coordination, and market participation activities across PacifiCorp's generation portfolio. Support the reliable and efficient operation of thermal, hydro, renewable, and energy storage resources in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Support generation scheduling, outage coordination, and operating plan development for thermal, hydro, renewable, and energy storage resources.
  • Support coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including Generation, Trading, Transmission, PMO, and other operational groups, to facilitate resource planning and operational activities.
  • Support PacifiCorp's participation in EDAM and other organized markets through operational coordination and maintenance of CAISO Master File (GRDT) and resource registration data.
  • Analyze operational data and prepare reports, metrics, and summaries to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of operational procedures, documentation, job aids, and process standards.
  • Develop proficiency in resource planning processes, systems, and operational practices through training, cross-training, and practical experience.
  • Support process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, standardization, and reliability.
  • Exercise sound judgment and seek appropriate guidance when performing time-sensitive operational activities.
  • Participate in rotating on-call, after-hours, weekend, holiday, or emergency operational support as required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Business, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn new systems, technologies, and operational processes.
  • Familiarity with utility operations, energy markets, or resource planning is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, systems, and operational processes and adapt to changing business and operational requirements.

Preferences
  • Experience in electric utility operations, resource planning, generation scheduling, energy markets, or related industries.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, or operational software such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of organized electricity markets, resource registration, or market participation processes (e.g., EDAM, CAISO, EIM).
  • Experience supporting process improvement, operational standardization, documentation, project coordination, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience developing operational documentation, training materials, or standardized procedures that support knowledge sharing and consistent operations.
