Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Associate AD/Director of Financial and IT Operations, this position serves as Information Technology Manager for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA). The IT Manager will supervise one or more IT Support Specialists in providing excellent technical support for desktop/mobile hardware and software to all DRIA coaches and staff, ensuring all incoming IT and AV issues and customer service requests are met. This position will plan and lead DRIA hardware lifecycle and long-term IT / AV infrastructure strategy and development. They will also partner with the University's central IT organization (ISC) in addressing the division's technology and AV needs, maintaining awareness of and participating in campus IT governance and advisory groups. Responsibilities include planning and providing a secure and robust desktop/mobile environment in alignment with University policies and standards, supporting capital projects and events in DRIA facilities, and supporting specialized technology applications and related AV systems. Other key tasks include providing day-to-day technical support to DRIA coaches and staff directly; regular communications within the division regarding IT and AV services and expectations; developing and maintaining DRIA IT policies, processes, and best practices; managing vendor relationships; and keeping up to date on ISC's current resources and innovations. Duties may be required outside of business hours to respond to priority issues and events.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to DRIA coaches and staff directly.
  • Supervise one or more IT Support Specialists in providing excellent technical support for desktop/mobile hardware and software to all DRIA coaches and staff, ensuring all incoming IT and AV issues and customer service requests are met.
  • Maintain and manage production hardware and software for the DRIA hardware life-cycle.
  • Lead DRIA's partnership with the University's central IT organization (ISC) in addressing the division's technology needs.
  • Engage the end user population and build partnerships with key stakeholders in order to understand IT / AV needs and inform strategic planning. Issue regular communications within the Division regarding IT and AV services and expectations; develop and maintain DRIA IT policies, processes, and best practices; manage vendor relationships; and keep up to date on ISC's current resources and innovations.
  • Create and maintain IT / AV documentation for all athletic facilities, including SOPs and system manuals. This includes preventative maintenance for venue AV and game operations systems in DRIA facilities prior to the beginning of each season. Provide support for IT / AV investment in capital projects.
  • Oversee long-term IT / AV infrastructure strategy and development in DRIA facilities including troubleshooting, repairs, and long-term planning for DRIA's connection to the University's fiber network / infrastructure.
  • Provide onsite IT / AV support for men's and women's basketball games, football games, The Penn Relays, and select external events; on-call for all other events / venues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated customer-focus and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to address and prioritize customer needs within a busy and complex environment.
  • Previous experience managing technical staff and multiple projects at once. Relevant experience with Microsoft Windows10, macOS, O365 as well as familiarity with Dell, Apple, and Android products is necessary.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and VMWare Workspace One preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience in athletics or higher education preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
