Job description

Position Overview

Smith Lodge is a 21-bed transitional housing and support services program for men and women located in Plymouth, MN. The 21-bed program provides single-room and double occupancy rooms for adults (18+) of all genders in need of a healing-centered community.

Position Responsibilities

  • The Resident Advocate position will provide supportive services and a secure, safe environment to men and women who have chronic addiction to drugs or alcohol.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all residents.
  • Monitor medication.
  • Lead or manage evening resident activities.
  • Assist in resident transportation.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Make a visual check of all residents and document residents’ status; complete room checks.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Work with Program Manager to assist new residents; paperwork, distribute linen and personal items, provide information on available resources and options to assist residents in working on their goals and objectives.
  • Handle other tasks, as assigned by the Program Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds to promote fairness and equality and have an awareness of culturally specific resources
  • Ability to maintain safety and provide appropriate and respectful services to people with substance use disorder in a substance-free board and lodging setting;
  • Understand substance use disorder and the needs of residents in recovery;
  • Maintain confidentiality, ethical boundaries and professional conduct in all interactions with residents;
  • Experience mediating problems using de-escalation techniques;
  • Computer proficiency required; including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in a database system;
  • CPR and medication administration certified are a plus, but training on both will be provided;
Other Requirements
  • Other lifting or physical requirements as added from time to time, or as required to perform the essential functions of this position, including the ability to climb (ascend and descend) a flight of stairs;
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Compensation:

Pay range is $15.23 - $16.80, based on your prior experience. We offer .40 cents differential pay for overnight shifts and .50 for weekend shifts.

Benefits: This position is not benefits eligible

Hours: Evening 4pm-12am, Weekend Overnight 12-8 AM PT relief positions available
