Position Summary

The Nystoriak Laboratory at MMRI is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and dependable individual to serve as a Research Laboratory Manager / Laboratory Coordinator. This position plays a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of a cardiovascular research laboratory.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to maintain an organized and efficient laboratory environment, coordinate laboratory activities, manage resources, and support ongoing research projects. While the position includes hands-on laboratory work, the primary responsibility is to help keep the laboratory running smoothly and ensure that research activities are completed efficiently and effectively.

Training will be provided for laboratory procedures and project-specific tasks. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations and Organization

o Coordinate day-to-day laboratory activities and help maintain an organized, efficient work environment.

o Manage laboratory inventory, including reagents, supplies, and consumables.

o Order and track laboratory supplies and equipment.

o Maintain laboratory records, databases, and organizational systems.

o Assist with equipment maintenance and coordination of repairs when needed.

Animal Colony Coordination

o Assist with organization and oversight of the laboratory mouse colony.

o Maintain colony records and coordinate breeding and animal availability for studies.

o Work with laboratory personnel and institutional animal care staff to ensure smooth colony operations.

Sample and Project Coordination

o Collect and organize tissue and biological samples from research studies.

o Prepare, catalog, store, and distribute samples for analysis and collaboration.

o Coordinate shipment of samples to collaborating laboratories and service providers.

o Maintain accurate sample tracking and documentation.

o Assist with data organization, file management, and record keeping.

Laboratory Support

o Assist with routine laboratory procedures, including cell culture and basic sample processing.

o Support laboratory personnel with project-related activities as needed.

o Learn additional laboratory techniques and procedures through on-the-job training.

o Help ensure projects move forward efficiently by coordinating activities and assisting where needed.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

o Bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical sciences, health sciences, chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

o Strong organizational and time-management skills.

o Excellent attention to detail.

o Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

o Willingness to learn new skills and take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

o Previous experience in a research, laboratory, clinical, biotechnology, or healthcare setting.

o Experience handling biological samples.

o Familiarity with cell culture, laboratory organization, inventory management, or animal research environments.

o Experience with data management, record keeping, or project coordination.
