Responsibilities

Research

  • Assists in the design, planning, and coordination of experiments in support of various research projects.

  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed record of data.

  • Assists in the installation and operation of research equipment. May repair research equipment.

  • Uses and computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.

  • Evaluates and summarizes experiment results.

  • Assist and conduct brain research with pharmacological methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results in the lab.

  • Assists with performing Epigenetic analysis with bioinformatic tools.

  • Assists and performs experimental procedures involving brain disease models.

  • Assists and performs experimental procedures involving behavior and signal recording.

  • Assists with neuroscience electrophysiological analysis studies.

  • Assists with performing technical operations relevant to pharmacology and PK studies.

Data analysis and records

  • Prepares database of neural observations and EEG recording.

  • Assists and edits scientific manuscripts.

  • Coordinates work progress with campus and external collaborators.

General lab management

  • Coordinates lab compliance and materials for research projects.

  • Orders and maintains scientific supplies and equipment.

  • Prepares and maintains lab records and inventories.

Research Publications

  • Assists in preparing and writing proposals to funding agencies; maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

  • Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.

Mentorship

  • Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.

  • Experience in Epigenetics and Bioinformatics.

  • Ability to help senior researchers with brain paradigms and data collection.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret EEG recording and behavior tests.

  • Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments.

  • Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation and analysis.

  • Ability to read temporo-spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns.

  • Ability to help research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.

  • Ensure attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
