Job description

Job Title: Engineering Technician Location: Sterling, Virginia Type: Contract Compensation: $40-$43 per hour Contractor Work Model: Onsite โ€“ onsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of new products and material processes related to advanced materials for commercial and Department of Defense applications, from R&D to pilot scale production.
  • Support the development of consolidation, milling, or manufacturing processes by preparing materials, assembling components, supporting welding and machining operations.
  • Support lab operations by preparing analytical samples, evaluating metallographic properties, generating test reports, and maintaining organization of lab samples and supplies.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop products for small-scale testing and larger-scale manufacturing.
  • Support machine maintenance and repair operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience in a related position.
  • Strong willingness to learn new skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Preferred: Vocational, Associates or Bachelorโ€™s degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with metal or ceramic powder handling.
  • Hands-on/applied skills with industrial equipment and working in an R&D lab/industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design, prototype and product assembly, welding, manual and CNC machining practices.
