POSITION TITLE: Finance Manager

Heelstone's strategy includes greenfield development, co-development, and acquisitions of later-stage projects. Heelstone has developed and achieved commercial operation on over 80 solar projects with an aggregate generating capacity of approximately 1.2 GW. POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's investment team, including project finance, M&A, corporate finance, and strategic portfolio decision-making. The role involves managing diverse transaction-focused finance workstreams, interfacing with external counterparties, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. Reporting to the SVP, Investments, the Finance Manager will interface with the Construction, Development, Legal, FP&A, and Accounting teams to deliver high-quality financial analysis and insights. This is either a full-time hybrid position located in Durham, NC or a remote position with monthly travel to the home office in Durham - in-person is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage project debt and tax equity capital raise processes including investor RFPs, term sheet negotiations, investor Q&A, third-party advisor report creation, and other legal documentation
  • Manage corporate financing processes including transactions to raise new capital and workstreams to manage existing corporate facilities
  • Screen and conduct financial analysis of project acquisition opportunities, assist in structuring and pricing acquisitions, and manage due diligence and closing processes
  • Manage, review, and maintain complex financial models utilizing diverse capital structures
  • Prepare financial analyses and board presentations to provide detailed overviews of projects and support strategic development decisions
  • Collaborate with the construction and development teams to ensure financial models reflect accurate assumptions
  • Provide direction to team of analysts, including guidance on financial modeling and other workstreams where their support is being provided
  • Execute ad-hoc research and analytical tasks to evaluate new technologies, markets, and financing structures


SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experienced in building and improving financial models
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and attention to detail

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated record of execution at a utility-scale developer, investment bank, or similar transaction-focused finance position
  • 4-year degree required
  • 4-6 years of experience in finance, of which some were focused on renewable energy or power markets
  • Familiarity with financing tools, including debt (construction, term, revolving facilities) and tax credit monetization (tax equity, tax credit transfer)
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry, including an understanding of project development, financing, and regulatory frameworks
  • Understanding of "solar economics" and financial modeling
