Located on GW's campus in downtown D.C., The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum celebrates art, history and world cultures. Public programs and exhibitions are inspired by diverse collections of global textiles and local history. Resources for students and scholars include the peer-reviewed The Textile Museum Journal, the Cotsen Textile Traces Study Center and the Albert H. Small Center for National Capital Area Studies.
Position Specific Summary
This position is for the role of student administrative assistant. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the director and special assistant to the director in data gathering and other tasks related to strategic planning and museum board relations.
Responsibilities may include the following:

• Suveying best practices at academic museums and galleries
• Collecting information about academic museum volunteer group bylaws
• Drafting and conducting surveys to collect data from peer institutions
• Digitizing board books and organizing board archives
• Supporting tasks related to strategic planning and reaccreditation
• Additional support and special projects as needed

Approximate hours per week: 8-12
Work dates: 9/8/2026-5/14/2027
Standard Position Description
The student will serve as an administrative assistant and perform tasks to support the operations of the the office or department. Task may include managing small to mid-level projects or events, responding to departmental inquiries, assist with communications and marketing, data entry, and other general office tasks. Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs.
