Job Summary:
The Senior R&D Project Manager will lead and coordinate business-critical R&D projects from inception to completion. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals align with organizational objectives, are completed on time, and stay within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in R&D processes, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to manage complex technical projects.
The Senior R&D Project Manager must: be detail-oriented, organized, results-driven, have proven ability to track and complete deadline-driven projects, have outstanding communication/interpersonal skills, be a positive contributor and have a strong commitment to quality. Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask are a must.
In a fast-paced commercial environment, this individual will need a strong bias towards action, with an expert ability to drive decisions, resolve conflicts, and communicate. Must be a self-starter whose goal is to get the job done and who is able to balance multiple priorities effectively. Must work independently with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage new product development and sustaining engineering projects through full product lifecycle (from inception through post-launch).
  • Establish project schedules and budgets, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring project team members meet expected deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work closely with Product Management to drive business-critical R&D projects that will enter the new product pipeline or support the existing product portfolio.
  • Drive definition of project risks and creation of mitigation plans including identification of contingency plans where appropriate. Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels as neededοΏ½escalating issues as necessary based on project work plans and requirements.
  • Drive strict adherence to the Nova Design Control and Stage Gate processes.
  • Lead and manage Bio Ecosystem Meeting(s) and Core Team Meetings to facilitate collaboration between R&D and cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and help to resolve resource allocation issues and set priorities to ensure the project is staffed appropriately, completed on time, and within budget constraints.
  • Assist with resolving any R&D related issues for projects and escalate any critical R&D activities that could impact the approval and/or launch of a product in the respective market.

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years Project Management experience working in a regulated industry, Medical or Pharmaceutical environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships throughout the business.
  • Strong understanding of design control, stage-gate methodologies, and product development life cycles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Expertise in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence, etc.).
  • Experience in budget management, risk assessment, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience producing written reports and presenting to management
  • Education Requirements:
    • Degree in Engineering, Science, or Project Management
    • Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINC2, or Agile certification preferred

  • Comfort with working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to [25οΏ½50] pounds as required
  • Able to communicate effectively via phone, video, and written communication.
  • Occasional need to move about the office to access meetings or resources.

Targeted Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 a year
