Job description

R&D Programmer/Set-Up Machinist
PHB Inc. Machining Division has a current need for a R&D Programmer/Set-Up Machinist. This is a first shift, full-time position with advancement opportunities within the company.
Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models
  • Perform complex set-ups including creating CNC Programs, take a part from print to first piece
  • Input the product design into the computer modeling software
  • Decipher CMM Printouts and apply correct adjustments to keep part in spec
  • Build basic fixtures for production
  • Choose and load the correct cutting tools for the job
  • Adjust machine settings to desired specifications
  • Setup work area for efficient material flow
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, quality control or others to resolve machining problems and optimize programs and tooling
  • Complete gage room documentation for first piece approval
  • Possess a complete knowledge of machine tool and control functions
  • troubleshoot problems in manufacturing
  • Train employees to operate CNC equipment and set-up basics
  • Complete or update setup instructions and/or work instructions, tooling sheets, etc.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous work experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience with Mastercam software
  • Experience with Mazak and Okuma
  • Ability to read and interpret design blueprints
  • Extensive experience with computer modeling software
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and stick to a deadline
  • Ability to work after-hours when required
