Moog's Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Development Process Assurance Engineer to join their team. You will report to the Development Process Assurance Manager and have a hybrid work schedule in Elma, NY.

This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in the development, qualification and testing of advanced control systems for aircraft actuators and valves across MAG, CAG and SDG.

The Development Process Assurance Engineer audits and reviews engineering development work products and activities on assigned projects to verify compliance with established standards and processes.

Here's what you will be doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • Perform audits and reviews of Engineering artifacts to ensure a high degree of integrity. This includes the tailoring of department standard audit and review tools to specific projects assuring compliance to Moog, Military, FAA, EASA, and NASA requirements.

  • Identify variances and track problem resolution to closure. The incumbent will facilitate compliance with Engineering standards through various levels of requests for corrective action.

  • You will be proactive in identifying potential project problems and assuring that they are addressed.

  • Collect data on assigned projects and report to project management on a periodic basis to provide insight into project performance and potential problems.

  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary design and development team to solve process issues and participate in every phase of the design and development lifecycle, including the creation of proposals.

  • Support the evolution of conceptual designs, technical project planning, detailed design, and testing phases (risk mitigation, integration, and validation/verification) to ensure compliance throughout.

  • Participate in internal and external program reviews to confirm the engineering design groups have met the intent of their processes.

  • Conduct phase transition audits to assess the readiness of the design team to progress to the next phase.

  • Conduct test readiness reviews to determine the preparedness of the testing teams prior to formal qualification testing.

To be considered for this role, you typically will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of experience in the field of Quality Assurance, Design Engineering or New Product Introduction.

  • Working knowledge of Engineering development process activities and outputs including Configuration Management, Document/Drawing practices, Root Cause Analysis/Problem Reporting, Requirements Specification, Design Documentation, Validation & Verification.

  • Basic understanding of life cycle process descriptions with sufficient comprehension to recommend improvements to improve quality.

  • Basic understanding of interpreting a wide range of industry and regulatory standards to facilitate audits within other Moog business units where applications range from communications to satellites, drones, missiles and rockets.

  • Basic understanding of systems, electrical or software engineering disciplines, including requirements management, verification and validation methodologies, control system design, and system integration and testing.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) is required.

  • Proven ability to work in close cooperation with external auditors while representing one's company in a positive light even under difficult situations.

  • Proactive problem solving and resolution skills, with the ability to exercise mature judgement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in AS9115A, IEEE 12207-2017, AS9100 Rev. D., DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, NASA-STD-8739.8B and NPR 7150.2D.

  • Transferable U.S. clearance is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic working relationships, effectively plan and organize tasks, and maintain a strong customer focus.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $90,000.00-$125,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
