Responsibilities

Support the Research & Development organization by addressing the release of new and revised Engineering documentation for the procurement or manufacture of MSA Safety Products.ย  This includes assignment of new part numbers using the Costing Power App, staging of documents and gain readiness for release to SAP.ย  This entails project management strategies to coordinate and gain stakeholder engagement for SAP part number view population for lower level to sellable part numbers.

Serve as a communication bridge between R&D and Mission Ops gaining alignment with timing and release of documentation for launch of the product(s).ย  Be a super user for the entire Engineering Change Management process, Change Requests, Change Notices and provide issue resolution where needed.ย  Provide insight and recommendations for standardization across R&D and Mission Ops for NPD to eliminate non-value added processes to enable speed to meet corporate business objectives.

Process Engineering Documentation Change Requests from R&D Organization

Process revised product drawings received from R&D via SAP Engineering Change Request.ย  Review marked print of drawing to ensure integrity of content.ย  Notify applicable R&D associates if corrections need to be made.ย  Update content in SAP Bill of Material and Bill of Documents, as applicable, based on drawing.ย  Store updated drawing in SAP with applicable status codes and security authorizations.ย  Create SAP Change Notice and initiate to applicable Plant Coordinator for implementation. (launch dates or revised part implementation)

ย Process new Engineering Documentation received from R&D Organization

Review new documentation received for release to ensure integrity of content.ย  Notify applicable R&D associates if corrections need to be made.ย  Create content in SAP Bill of Material and Bill of Documents, as applicable, based on documentation.ย  Establish applicable SAP views, extend to applicable Plants, with applicable Sales and Distribution Channels.ย  Set initial Under Development code.ย  Store documentation in SAP open workflow for stakeholder population of part number views. (launch dates or revised part implementation)

Create and Release New Part Number Workflows

Facilitate new part number creation and review of new engineering documentation from start to release to production in accordance with MSA documentation control processes via Costing App. Consistently meet documentation deadlines driven by internal stakeholder needs (launch dates or revised part implementation)

ย Project Management & Continuous Improvement

Create reports to program and project managers on documentation status and identifies bottlenecks and gaps in documentation that could delay key project activities like quotation, build, and launch.ย  Communication to stakeholders weekly to bi-weekly basis to maintain alignment on documentation readiness.ย  Identify areas for improvement across processes for standardization and eliminate process waste. Update process documentation and training.

Assess and Correct Part Number Workflowsย 

Assess and give guidance to correct issues with part number workflows post launch of product. Remove blockers that have been identified by the Mission Ops that are causing less than optimal results for material movement. Consistently meet documentation deadlines driven by internal stakeholder needs (revised part implementation to eliminate blockers)
