Job description

Yoh Life Sciences is hiring for a Research Associate in San Diego, CA. This position will support Research Associates and Scientists with laboratory experiments, assay development, and day-to-day lab operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with assay development, high-throughput or high-content screening, mammalian cell culture, and/or production/manufacturing of lentiviral or AAV vectors.

Rate: $24โ€“$27/hr DOE
Location: San Diego, CA
Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday, 9:00 AMโ€“5:00 PM
Responsibilities:
  • Perform and support cell-based assays using mammalian cell systems, including routine cell culture, maintenance, and experimental setup.
  • Assist with assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting, including development and refinement of experimental protocols.
  • Support high-throughput and/or high-content screening assays, including preparation, execution, and analysis of experiments.
  • Perform laboratory techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, DNA/RNA analysis, and other molecular biology methods as needed.
  • Support the production and manufacturing of lentiviral and/or AAV vectors, including upstream cell culture and related laboratory processes.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, analyze data, and communicate results to Research Associates and Scientists.
  • Assist with routine laboratory operations, including media and reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with senior scientists and other team members to troubleshoot experiments and ensure project milestones are met on schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field, or HS/GED with relevant laboratory experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
  • Experience with assay development and/or optimization strongly preferred.
  • Experience with high-throughput (HTS) and/or high-content screening (HCS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with lentiviral or AAV production/manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • Molecular biology experience, including PCR, Western blotting, or related techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols while contributing to troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
Candidates with experience in assay development, high-throughput/high-content screening, or AAV/lentiviral production are especially encouraged to apply.
