The Opportunity
PharmaEssentia Innovation Research Center (PIRC) is expanding its drug discovery organization in the Greater Boston area and is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate or Senior Research Associate with hands-on experience in rodent oncology models, in vivo pharmacology, and data analysis and presentation. The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of preclinical studies supporting discovery and translational research programs.
The successful candidate will execute and support in vivo pharmacology studies designed to evaluate novel therapeutic candidates. Working closely with multidisciplinary project teams, this individual will generate high-quality preclinical data to support target validation and advancement of oncology and immunology programs. Senior Research Associates are expected to independently plan experimental execution, troubleshoot technical challenges, and mentor junior laboratory personnel.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute in vivo pharmacology studies using mouse oncology models, including tumor implantation, compound administration, blood collection, and tissue harvest.
  • Perform multiple dosing routes including intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), and subcutaneous (SC) administration.
  • Conduct immunological assays including ELISA, MSD, and flow cytometry to characterize pharmacodynamic and immune responses following treatment.
  • Culture and maintain human and murine cell lines to support xenograft, syngeneic, and in vitro pharmacology studies.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to project teams and contribute to study reports and scientific presentations.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records in compliance with institutional policies and study documentation requirements.
  • Follow all IACUC protocols, SOPs, institutional policies, and applicable animal welfare regulations.
  • Assist with laboratory organization, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with scientists across pharmacology, translational biology, and project teams.
  • Contribute to optimization of experimental procedures and implementation of new in vivo techniques.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Animal Science, or a related life science discipline required. Master's degree with relevant laboratory experience is preferred for Senior Research Associate candidates.
  • Research Associate: 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience in academia or industry.
  • Senior Research Associate: 3-5 years of relevant experience with demonstrated independence in experimental execution and data interpretation.
  • Demonstrated experience performing mouse handling, dosing, blood collection, and tissue collection.
  • Experience maintaining mammalian cell cultures.
  • Experience with GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, or equivalent data analysis software.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
