Job description

R&D Technician
Location: Santa Rosa, CA — Onsite
Pay Rate: $35.00–$37.00 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
Openings: 1

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced R&D Technician to support manufacturing, engineering, metrology, and continuous improvement activities in a fast-paced technical environment. This position will manage non-standard production orders, develop manufacturing workflows, create photomask layouts, analyze measurement data, troubleshoot production issues, and support process improvements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience combined with knowledge of CAD, metrology, GD&T, SPC, and process control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize a queue of non-standard orders while providing clear status updates and maintaining delivery timelines.
  • Evaluate order requirements and establish appropriate manufacturing workflows.
  • Design and generate photomask layouts using 2D/3D CAD systems, applying sound engineering judgment within established guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain measurement routines across multiple metrology platforms.
  • Analyze measurement data and provide manufacturability recommendations to engineering teams.
  • Train production operators on processes, procedures, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and provide hands-on support on the production floor.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects, including data collection, analysis, process documentation, and implementation.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and follow established quality and manufacturing procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with GD&T and practical metrology principles.
  • Knowledge of SPC and basic manufacturing statistics.
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAD software.
  • Background in photochemical machining, PCB manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication, or a related technical manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with vision measurement systems such as Keyence, Nikon, OGP, Zygo, or similar equipment.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry and process control.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Education
  • Associate degree (AA/AS) or higher in a technical field, or equivalent technical training, education, or certification.
