The Role
We are seeking a Research Analyst for our Investment Grade Structured Products Research Team, primarily covering CLOs, and over time select ABS sectors. We are looking for an individual who will combine in-depth research coverage with well-developed relative value skills to deliver value across a range of strategies in our taxable bond funds.
The Value You Deliver
  • Provide thorough fundamental analysis and research coverage of assigned sectors
  • Communicate credit opinions and relative value views through published research as well as in-person meetings
  • Generate investment ideas across your coverage in a timely and well-communicated manner, as well as respond to investment opportunities in the market
  • Participate in regular discussions on investment strategy and contribute to the ongoing development of the investment process
  • Become an integral part of the investment team serving a range of fixed income investment mandates with attention to holdings across the Fixed Income bond funds and sensitivity to the differences in mandates
  • Work with investment professionals across Fidelity globally, including members of the equity, high income and alternatives and asset allocation teams
  • Collaborate in a heavily team-based investment process
  • Maintain strong relationships with issuers, rating agencies, and analysts while also traveling regularly
  • Provide strong mentorship of, and close collaboration with, junior members of the research team in support of the research team and investment process

At Fidelity, Research Analysts make recommendations that have significant impact on the funds. You will become a highly valued core member of the research and investment teams (which include portfolio managers, traders and quantitative analysts), actively participating with portfolio managers and traders in strategy sessions that address credit trends and asset allocation. The analytical work requires regular issuer contact, travel, and working together with and mentoring Sector Specialists who provide analytical and data support. You will report to the Managing Director of Research for Financials and Structured Products.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:
  • Five years or more experience as a fixed income analyst covering CLOs, with current or prior experience covering ABS strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success making fixed income investment recommendations
  • Strong analytical and technology skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Good time management
  • Flexibility and skill in handling the demands of a broad and diverse coverage load
  • Ability to think creatively, work collaboratively and make decisions quickly, often with limited information
  • An ability to engage proactively with portfolio managers, traders and quantitative analysts
  • The ability to develop and present investment ideas and investment information in a clear and effective way
  • A high level of enthusiasm for discovering and responding to new investment opportunities
  • Progress towards a CFA or an MBA is preferred
