Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Sr. Tax Associate I to join our Tax Team. The Tax group is a dedicated team of professionals who work in conjunction with our wealth advisors to provide tax compliance services to our high-net-worth clients.  We are looking for someone who loves client service but does not enjoy the headaches of billable hours in a traditional public accounting firm.  We offer a great work/life balance, a fun and supportive environment, and the chance to work directly with a wide variety of clients. We do not do audits or assurance work, and there are no business development requirements.

As a member of the Tax Team, the Sr. Tax Associate I is primarily responsible for the preparation and delivery of income tax returns, tax projections and analysis for our clients. The Sr. Tax Associate I will have a passion for client service with experience in individual and entity tax preparation. The Sr. Tax Associate I is personable, demonstrates superior communication skills, and possesses the flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced tax services environment.

This role benefits from a flexible work from home schedule. You will have the flexibility to work from home or in the office, and there will be periodic coordinated visits to the office to collaborate with the team. 

Essential Job Functions will include:

  • Prepare tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts and businesses
  • Create quarterly estimates and projections
  • Responsible for clear & concise communication with clients on all matters related to delivery of income tax returns
  • Perform tax research
  • Responsible for timely and accurate response to tax questions, estimates, projections, and analysis with both tax and wealth management clients
  • Coordinate with tax support staff to ensure timely workflow practices and data integrity
  • Work with tax staff to respond to tax notices and initial preparation of correspondence
  • Stays up to date on tax law and any changes, as well as communicate the effects of the law changes to clients
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of public accounting experience, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Moderate tax code knowledge and general accounting skills
  • Obtained or in the process of obtaining CPA and/or EA preferred
  • Master's degree in Tax a plus
  • Experience with CCH, including Axcess, Workflow and Practice, and SafeSend, a plus.
  • Highly organized and tax-oriented
  • Ability to handle a large volume of activities at one time
  • Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors in concise and understandable fashion
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time-management skills

Work Schedule:  This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, and Saturdays as needed during tax season. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs.

Working Conditions: This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace which is free of interruptions. Whether position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
