The Team
The Applications team owns the testing and performance validation of our chemistry, responsible for both lab evaluation and field execution. It is a small, cross-disciplinary group that works directly with technical operators to deploy, prove, and iterate on our solutions. Beyond the current field program, the team evaluates new applications for our chemical platform across the oilfield.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Analytical Research Associate to join our growing R&D team. In this role, you will support and operate automated liquid handling systems and high-throughput screening workflows that are central to our discovery and development pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about analytics in the R&D space.
Core Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot liquid handling robots (e.g., Opentrons) for routine and custom assay workflows
  • Execute high-throughput screening experiments, including sample preparation, dosing treatments and FTIR and ICP-OES analyses
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and calibration on instrumentation, and coordinate with vendors for more complex service needs
  • Follow and contribute to the development of SOPs, protocols, and logs to ensure reproducibility and compliance
  • Assist in data collection, entry, and basic analysis using spreadsheets
  • Contribute to and maintain a clean and organized working environment
  • Assist in inventory audits and ordering for the laboratory
  • Support cross-functional efforts to help the technical team meet deadlines
  • Follow safety protocols relevant to chemical and BSL-2 laboratories

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, chemistry , geochemistry, biology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, with preferred experience using automated liquid handling systems such as Opentrons, Beckman Coulter Biomek, or Eppendorf epMotion
  • Experience in analytical chemistry techniques and relevant laboratory equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • A propensity for data integrity and precision work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with various audiences (technical and nontechnical)
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
  • Experience with microsoft office suite and google suite
  • Willing to travel to other company sites as needed (up to 10% of the time)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, reach overhead, and stand for extended periods of time with reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in a BSL-2 laboratory and with hazardous materials (previous experience preferred)

  • Extreme Ownership: We are self-starters who learn voraciously, master our domain, and take full accountability for the outcomes of our work.
  • Relentless Execution: A good idea is meaningless until it is solving a customer problem. Moving with speed, focus, and determination is how we win in our industry.
  • Radical Candor: Focused, direct, and impactful communication is our language. No time for beating around the bush.
  • Shared Success: Meaningful equity participation for employees means that when MaverickX wins, everyone wins.
  • Uncompromised Integrity: We do first-class business in a first-class way, while staying loyal to our customers, shareholders, employees, and country.

Benefits
  • At Maverick X, our compensation packages reflect our recognition of the value our employees bring to our success and our commitment to recruiting top talent. We cater our benefits to ensure our team succeeds both in and out of the office
  • Premium health insurance: With medical, dental, and optical options, we offer some of the best coverage on the market
