Job description

Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will use fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in neuroscience to perform varied scientific research tasks requiring application and adaptation of established techniques, procedures and criteria. Work is part or full-time during weekdays with occasional weekend and/or night work. Work is performed at the clinic and business office. A high degree of accuracy in documentation and observation, adaptability to a variety of situations, strong organizational and communication skills, and an ability to evaluate situations and make decisions is needed for this position.

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performs research assignments involving a number of variables and applies or uses scientific procedures, equipment and computer technology which may involve complex functions or features.
  • Conducts data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance. Involves accurate and timely data entry.
  •  May involve recruiting participants for research studies. Prepares documents for participants’ consent and authorization and ensure they are signed, delivered to appropriate persons, and retained for proper documentation.
  •  Designs graphical representations of data as needed.
  • Conducts literature reviews as requested by therapeutic staff and the Research Department. Assists with maintaining the article database and research library. 
  • Works with Research Department and other staff and/or students engaged in associated research support activities.
  •  Understands the basics of traumatic brain injury and stroke, CNS patient care and patient programming.
  • Will interface with other agencies and research partners. Will travel to other CNS programs and research agencies as requested.
  • Attends internal meetings as requested, as well as educational seminars and conferences to keep current on ideas and techniques in the field.
  • Will become Behavior Tools and Pro-Act Certified and maintain certification as required. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

Experience and Education

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or G.E.D. One year of college is required, especially elementary statistics and research design. Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Certification: National Institute of Health Certification for purposes of performing research and conducting research studies for human subjects. Phlebotomy License Preferred
  • Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant computer programs is necessary. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.  It’s not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are arrived at each unique case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $25.00-$30.00/hourly.
