Job description

The R&D Tax Credit Senior Specialist will research tax issues, to keep up to date on the latest changes in the tax law related to their area of specialization, conduct fieldwork from the local office or travel to client sites, and managed the work of Specialists. The primary responsibility for this role is to work projects from beginning to completion, as well as establishing and maintaining client relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct fieldwork specific to consulting projects. Fieldwork could include visiting the client location, touring client facilities, holding and leading client calls, investigating relevant facts, analyzing accounting information, preparing cost lead schedules and cost summary schedules, completing appropriate tax computations, and preparing written reports summarizing the findings.
  • Assist in the procurement of business. Be available to address technical questions as well as create relevant marketing content.
  • Become an expert in a particular field of tax law. Conduct research both in general and client specific.
  • Read and study relevant tax material related to the specific line of business.
  • Manage various project tasks at once. Initiate internal communication regarding the status of tasks, relevant technical issues discovered, status of workload, and expected due dates.
  • Oversee the work and mentorship of Specialists.

Requirements
  • Travel up to 20%
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of income tax theory
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Suites.
  • Proficient in basic tax concepts.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client site

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two to four years of experience with respect to conducting research credit studies.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
