Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of R&D, this position is responsible for formulating, testing, and reverse engineering personal care products that are safe, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment.

  • Formulate cosmetic products, including original formulations and NBE (Near-Brand Equivalent) products.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.

  • Interpret test results, including microbiological, stability, and challenge testing.

  • Understand product costing and pricing requirements and formulate to meet those targets.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and ingredients that may present opportunities for the company and its customers.

  • Interface regularly with customers to ensure laboratory deliverables meet expectations.

  • Interface regularly with chemical vendors to ensure all required materials are available to complete assignments.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Sigan America policies, procedures, and testing requirements.

  • Uphold and model company cultural values of dignity and respect.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of R&D.

Occupational Requirements Qualifications / Certifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.

  • 1–3 years of experience in an R&D laboratory environment.

  • Alternatively, 3–5 years of R&D laboratory experience without a degree.

Skills / Knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with customers.
