KBR is seeking a senior Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to work with our team in Albuquerque, NM supporting the Air Force Research Labโ€™s Space Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RJ). An active DoD Top Secret security clearance is required.

As an MBSE Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and work in collaborative small team environments to conduct research and analysis, develop models and scenarios, and perform analysis on a variety of current and future space technologies. This work will drive the development and refinement of existing program system requirements and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with research & development engineers, as well as with program and customer leadership, to provide better requirements traceability, efficient design of components and systems, improved quality (by catching defects early), reduced costs, and shortened concept system research & development timelines.

Responsibilities
  • Guide efforts to create and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents.
  • Enable missionโ€‘level modeling, simulation and analysis using AFSIM by defining and structuring MBSE elements and data flow.
  • Guide systemโ€‘level integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Define and analyze directed energy system missions and evaluate mission capabilities/performance for various scenarios and vignettes.
  • Provide expert level support for framing conceptual challenges, developing and documenting methodologies to model, simulate, and analyze those challenges.
  • Communicate clear insights and observations based on complex analytical models and technical data interpretation to seniorโ€‘level leadership and external customers.
  • Collaborate with a range of organizations and customers to obtain necessary authoritative data, analytic techniques, and assumptions so that results remain consistent with the general analytic community.
  • Lead technical support and knowledge transfer as needed to facilitate the successful adoption of technologies newly introduced into the AFSIM suite.
  • Demonstrate technical ownership and accountability.
  • Provide MBSE and SysML or UML expertise and related support to the modeling, simulation & analysis (MS&A) studies team.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Math or Science.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Advanced SysML skills.
  • Experience with DoDAF and UAF frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in crossโ€‘functional planning, coordination and task execution.
  • Handsโ€‘on technical drive and accountability.
  • Collaborate well with a diverse group of skill sets and backgrounds.
  • High motivation, creativity, and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communicator.
Desired Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Math or Science.
  • Proficiency in Cameo and/or SparxEA applications.
  • Experience with space technologies and/or space operations.
  • OMGโ€‘Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) Certification.
  • Statistical techniques for approaching complex problems with large amounts of data.
  • Application of operations research techniques and supporting skills such as database query languages, design of experiment and response surface methodologies, scripting language programming, and development of appropriate models and simulations.
  • Experience with agile development processes.
  • Familiar with M&S tools such as AFSIM, Systems Tool Kit (STK), Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM), and/or System Effectiveness Analysis Simulation (SEAS).
