Job description

Job Description:-

  • The Roadway Design Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting the design of roadway improvement projects from concept through construction documents.

  • The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in highway design, hands-on experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and a working knowledge of North Carolina standards and processes.

Responsibilities include:-

  • Develop roadway design plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction documents for transportation and multi-modal projects

  • Perform horizontal and vertical alignment design, superelevation, and grading using OpenRoads Designer (ORD)

  • Coordinate with utility, drainage, and structural disciplines throughout project development

  • Prepare and review design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates

  • Ensure compliance with state and/or municipal design standards, policies, and project-specific requirements

  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and agency stakeholders on project deliverables and schedules

  • Assist in preparation of permits, right-of-way documents, and technical specifications

Requirements Summary:-

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in road/transportation design, proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, and strong knowledge of NCDOT design standards and AASHTO guidelines required.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are also essential.
