Job description

Viterbo University invites applications for an Institutional Research Analyst to serve as a member of the Institutional Research department. This position plays a central role in supporting the university's mission through data analysis, reporting, assessment, and institutional effectiveness efforts. The Institutional Research Analyst will collaborate closely with university leadership to provide timely, accurate, and meaningful data that influences planning, decision-making, accreditation, enrollment management, and improvement initiatives.
The Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting institutional data, developing reports and dashboards, supporting survey and assessment processes, and communicating research findings to a wide variety of audiences. This position also provides administrative support for institutional research tools and software, including Qualtrics and Watermark, while contributing to strategic planning, program review, grant reporting, and quality improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, permanent 12-month exempt position located on-site at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin, with workplace flexibility options available after 90 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Gather, analyze, and communicate data to support institutional planning, decision-making, reporting, and key university priorities such as student success, academic excellence, accreditation, and grants.
  2. Maintain and develop data dashboards for institutional evaluation, planning, decision making, and continuous improvement.
  3. Support accurate and timely submission of external reports and surveys.
  4. Communicate data and research findings in a variety of formats to key constituents.
  5. Ensure data integrity and compliance with privacy standards.
  6. Serve on the Dashboard Team and the Data Governance Committee.
  7. Other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Institutional Research.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, educational research, social sciences, computer science or a related analytical discipline required; master's degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years' professional experience in a data analytics or research; prior higher education experience preferred.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required.
  4. Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, R, Python, or Jamovi is required.
  5. Experience with data visualization, ERP, and/or survey tools such as Ellucian Colleague, SQL, Qualtrics, Tableau is preferred.
  6. Strong abilities in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, research methodologies, and problem-solving.
  7. Ability to organize research results and conclusions in variety of formats to key stakeholders.
  8. Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
  9. High degree of integrity, reliability, and confidentiality.
