GENERAL DESCRIPTION:   Serves as the full-time building substitute for the Aviation Center and provides instructional coaching, mentoring, and academic support within a small learning community of approximately 180 students in grades 10-12. The employee provides classroom coverage as assigned and supports new and developing instructors through observation, collaborative planning, classroom - management development, reflective debriefing, and ongoing professional guidance. The position also provides mathematics support to students and serves as a trusted thought partner to instructors.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be qualified for this position, applicants must possess:

  • A valid Ohio teaching license, substitute teaching license, or the ability to obtain appropriate licensure.
  • Successful prior experience as a classroom teacher, with demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices.
  • Strong knowledge of classroom management, student engagement, lesson design, and assessment practices.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing instructional support to new or developing teachers.
  • Previous experience as a Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) mentor preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide mathematics support to high school students.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust, provide constructive feedback, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with both academic and career-technical instructors.
  • Flexibility to transition among substitute teaching, instructional coaching, mentoring, and student-support responsibilities based on daily building needs.
  • A satisfactory report from the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board.  The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non - prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
