The Director will oversee the Risk & Reputation team, ensuring proactive identification and management of potential threats to the brand, while demonstrating strategic leadership and confidence in crisis situations. Reporting directly to the U.S. head of Corporate Communications, the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategies that safeguard and strengthen Samsung's reputation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategy to evolve SEA's reputational risk and crisis management program.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the team and deliver advisory support to executives on national media stories, global brand risks, and crisis response.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to execute their roles effectively.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to monitor and analyze external trends and issues that could impact the company's reputation.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to align reputation management efforts with corporate objectives.
  • Educate and coach executives on crisis management and crisis communications, ensuring alignment with global standards and best practices.
  • Analyze the media landscape and provide strategic advisory support to executives on engaging with the media.
  • Drive a data-driven strategy to optimize interactions with domestic and international media.
  • Manage high profile relationships with top media and journalists and serve as spokesperson for the company.
  • Lead crisis management efforts by coordinating response plans, ensuring timely communication with key stakeholders, and maintaining brand integrity during critical situations.
  • Provide strategic guidance on reputation management initiatives, conducting regular risk assessments, and reporting findings to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Drive and lead key projects and activities to support SEA Corporate Communications, including writing press releases, conducting press interviews, and managing Samsung Spotlight moments (e.g., CES, Unpacked).
  • Facilitate executive-level coaching on media policies, questions and answers, and ensure continuity across messages by SEA speakers.
  • Design intelligence reports that bolster information for the PR community, developing media insights reports to inform strategic decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of relevant experience in crisis communications, corporate communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Extensive experience working directly with journalists, editors, and members of the media.
  • Expertise in writing PR materials (e.g., press releases, pitch decks, story development).
  • Experience managing PR agencies and technology vendors.
  • Proficiency in optimizing technology to improve the effectiveness of media measurement tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executives on handling large-scale issues.
  • Experience designing training programs for executives, leaders, and employees.
  • Strong crisis management expertise, including identifying key risks, developing strategies, and leading teams to successful outcomes.
  • Experience developing communication strategies (e.g., intake sessions with VPs and above, advance planning for key events, media training) and establishing governance processes for managing executive PR/Media requests.

The Director of Risk & Reputation will be a visionary leader who can navigate complex challenges, inspire their team, and drive impactful strategies that elevate Samsung's reputation as a trusted global brand.
