Senior Manager, Global Enterprise Communications

The full-spectrum Capital One Communications team is responsible for all aspects of the company's communications strategy and execution in order to propel business imperatives while promoting and protecting the reputation of Capital One. Our purview includes corporate and brand media relations, issues and reputation management, financial communications, and associate communications, as well as a full-service content and creative storytelling team that brings the story of Capital One to life on internal and external channels. We are communicators, writers, creative directors and multimedia experts, and we are all storytellers. As a central team within Global Enterprise Affairs, we are strategic counselors to our partners throughout the enterprise, sitting at the intersection of value creation and risk mitigation. We help drive business initiatives forward while enhancing the reputation of Capital One.

We are seeking talented individuals to join our growing Communications team. This position requires exceptional judgment, an ability to build relationships in a highly matrixed environment, and a sustained focus on delivering results. Creative problem-solving, an ability to read the data and the room, and a passion for storytelling are all critical to success in this role. Empathy, teamwork and a sense of humor are essential.

About the Role:
As a Senior Manager on the Global Enterprise Communications team, you will lead strategic communications initiatives that enhance Capital One's reputation and support key business objectives. You'll manage high-impact programs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and work with internal and external partners to deliver creative and effective communication strategies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to internal leaders and partners to plan and execute data-backed, integrated communications campaigns on behalf of the Premium Products and Experiences line of business. By joining our team, you'll be expected to push the envelope in driving premium narrative around Premium Products & Travel and Loyalty, Marketing & Spend Experiences to external audiences.

  • Develop compelling, consistent, tailored messages for various audiences and channels, including in response to media opportunities

  • Maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging internal and external risks and sensitivities and how to manage related stakeholder needs

  • Collaborate effectively across highly matrixed, cross-functional teams, offering real-time counsel on communications strategies to optimize results, mitigate risk and ensure stakeholder engagement

  • Leverage data to evaluate results, extract insights and optimize future programs

  • Identify new opportunities to institute best practices and improve enterprise governance

  • Oversee team operations and exhibit excellent judgment

  • Act as a highly collaborative self-starter in a fast-paced environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 6 years of communications experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of public relations or communications experience in financial services, technology, or consumer brands

  • At least 1 year of experience in developing and implementing change management strategies at a publicly traded company

  • At least 3 years of developing and executing thought leadership and consumer campaigns

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients or serving as a consultant for external business clients

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $163,900 - $187,100 for Sr. Communications Manager


New York, NY: $178,800 - $204,100 for Sr. Communications Manager










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
