FEDERAL WORK STUDY 2026 & 2027 ACADEMIC YEAR
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally funded financial aid program that offers part-time employment to eligible students to help meet educational and living expenses. CCC adheres to the U.S. Department of Education's regulations and proudly provides students with the opportunity to earn while they learn.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The FWS program at Kennedy-King College encourages students to gain real-world experience-ideally in roles related to their academic or career interests-by working in on campus departments or at approved off-campus community service sites. Students receive hourly wages for their work, which can help reduce out-of-pocket educational costs. Working in the FWS Program isn't just a paycheck-it's a chance to grow, build your resume, and become part of the Kennedy-King campus community in a meaningful way.

REPORTS TO:
Federal Work Study students are coordinated through the Office of Student Financial Aid at Kennedy-King College. Day-to-day supervision is provided by the department where the student is placed.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Kennedy-King College is seeking motivated, dependable, and service-oriented students to join the KKC team as Federal Work Study Students. Students will support their assigned department through a variety of office and program support tasks, including (but not limited to):
  • Greeting and assisting students, faculty, staff, or guests
  • Answering phones and routing calls
  • Assisting with filing, organizing, data entry, or special projects
  • Helping promote department events and services
  • Providing excellent customer service to all members of the college community

POSITION DETAILS:
Job Type: Part-Time
Hours: Up to 29 hours per week (based on eligibility and department needs)
Location: On-campus and select off-campus community partner sites
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must:
  • Be at least 16 years old and eligible to work in the U.S. (work permit required if under 18)
  • Have a completed FAFSA for the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Be enrolled at City Colleges of Chicago - Kennedy-King College in at least 6 credit hours
  • Be pursuing an eligible degree or certificate program
  • Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Be in good academic standing with CCC (no active academic restrictions)
  • Not be currently employed as a Student Worker, full- or part-time employee at CCC

Salary Range: $17.00 (on-campus) or $19.00 (off-campus) per hour.
Offered rate will be determined based on whether assigned location is on campus or off campus.
