Job description

WATERS has been a family-owned business for over 80 years (currently in its 4th generation), opening our doors in 1938. We are a dealer for International Trucks and IC School Buses (Prestige Certified), Collins Buses, Maintainer Service Trucks/Bodies, Jerr-Dan Wreckers/Carriers, Idealease Truck Rental/Leasing, several different Trailer Lines, and all the parts and services that go with them. We also have several contracts for plant and facilities maintenance. WATERS has 7 locations around Mississippi and as we continue to go, we're looking to add dedicated team members to become a part of our family!
The Truck Sales Representative will be interacting with new and existing customers, analyzing their needs and recommending equipment, closing the sale, completing paperwork, and delivering trucks. You will be a "Truck Specialist." The Truck Sales Representative will also concentrate on sales of new and used trucks as well as trailers to existing and new customers. You will be expected to act in an efficient, professional and effective manner to achieve sales guidelines and company sales goals. Much of your time will be spent making sales calls outside the office.
** Job will be based out of our Columbus, MS location, but you don't necesarily have to live in Columbus, MS as long as you can cover the assigned territory effectively. **

  • Responsible for sales of Used and New International products including light duty, medium duty and heavy-duty trucks as well as various trailer lines.
  • Work in conjunction with Sales Manager and Marketing Department to identify possible markets, customers and develop relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Demonstrate new and used vehicles which includes driving each vehicle.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all available equipment that may be added to the truck chassis.
  • Provide service to "walk-in" customers, both inside and outside on the lot, as well as call-in customers to the dealership.
  • Promote additional services and dealer support to meet customer/prospects needs.
  • Develop timely and accurate proposals with qualified New Truck and Lease personnel.
  • Analyze customer needs and determine needed specifications and sales strategies.
  • Maintain customer database and submit daily call reports.
  • Complete all reports/paperwork in established format as requested by management
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A background related to commercial trucks and equipment, and sales, is not required, but beneficial.
  • Ability to understand sometimes complex technical specifications and systems.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle and obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license along with all appropriate endorsement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing within the department and other areas of the Company as necessary.
  • Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with a variety of customers in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate all office equipment necessary to accomplish job duties such as computers, calculators, copiers, telephones, etc.
  • Ability to legibly document data for record keeping purposes.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work daily and as required.
