A Brief Overview
The Workday Lead Report Developer will design, build, govern, and optimize enterprise reporting and analytics across the Workday Financials ecosystem. This role will serve as a senior technical and functional expert for complex reporting, including effective-dated reports, dashboards, discovery boards, Prism Analytics, Accounting Center reporting, Worksheets, and Office Connect. The role will require someone who can build robust reporting frameworks, manage complex financial data, and deliver key operational insights through advanced analytics. The ideal candidate combines deep Workday reporting expertise with strong accounting and finance acumen, excellent data-modeling judgment, and the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable Workday solutions.
What you will do

  • Leads the development of advanced cross-functional reporting solutions, including custom Matrix, Advanced, and Composite reports, and uses Dashboards, Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and OfficeConnect that are tailored to meet stakeholder requirements efficiently and in accordance with established standards and conventions.
  • Analyzes reporting requirements, identifies appropriate data sources and business objects, validates logic, and recommends sustainable reporting designs that balance accuracy, usability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Architects, builds, and maintains Workday Prism Analytics pipelines and Accounting Center solutions to streamline financial data transformation and drive real-time decision-making, operational visibility, and downstream financial reporting.
  • Maintains complex, effective-dated financial reports for multiple consolidations, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and other regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoots report issues related to security, effective dating, calculated fields, data lineage, performance, scheduling, prompts, integrations, and release changes.
  • Maintains reporting standards, naming conventions, documentation practices, inventory controls, quality assurance procedures, and governance routines for the Workday reporting environment.
  • Builds advanced and customized Workday Reports (Matrix, Advanced, and Composite), tailored to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Evaluates the reporting environment and implements improvements to maximize efficiency and user adoption.
  • Works closely with Functional Leads to identify and prioritize system enhancements.
  • Provides ongoing support and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders, keeping alignment with organizational goals.
  • Leads knowledge transfer sessions and upskill team members to provide long-term success of the platform and mentor report writers and analysts on Workday reporting best practices, calculated fields, data-model interpretation, dashboard design, and quality-control techniques.
  • Monitors Workday releases and new functionality, assesses impact on existing reporting assets, and recommends enhancements that improve reporting efficiency, adoption, and reliability.
  • Manages report developers, both internal and external, ensuring compliance with report governance standards and processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field: Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Accounting required.
  • 8+ years of experience with Workday Financials, including expertise in Accounting Center, PRISM Analytics, and advanced reporting required.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced Workday reporting tools and integration frameworks required.
  • Demonstrated experience with SOX-compliant reporting and financial data governance required.
  • Background supporting HR, Finance, Supply Chain functional areas like Talent Management, Benefits, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Vendors, and Suppliers preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of Workday Security setup and role-based permissions.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
