Job description

Position Summary
We are looking for a Jr Report Writer to assist our data team in maintaining existing reports and supporting new reporting requests. This role is responsible for helping maintain Power BI reports with a mix of on-prem and cloud data sources. The ideal candidate will have foundational technical skills, an understanding of data concepts, and strong communication skills to work professionally with end users. Experience with Power BI, Microsoft products, and data modeling concepts is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assist with monitoring more than 70 Power BI report assets and help ensure successful daily refreshes.
โ€ข Perform requested modifications or improvements to reports.
โ€ข Manage ticket queue for reported issues and/or new report requests.
โ€ข Assist in migrating existing reporting to match current report theme standards and ensure consistency.
โ€ข Work with developers to update existing reports based on newly modeled or cleaned data tables.
โ€ข Assist with assigning access to reporting audiences when needed.
โ€ข Gather reporting requirements from end users to clarify report objectives.
โ€ข Validate report results to ensure consistency and identify data inconsistencies or missing information.
โ€ข Apply data quality standards to support accurate and consistent reporting.
โ€ข Maintain report inventory including, report logic, business rules, refresh schedules and related documentation.
โ€ข Assist with Power BI workspace organization to support governance standards.
โ€ข Develop end user documentation for Power BI best practices within the organization.
โ€ข Provide basic end user-training on Power BI fundamentals.
โ€ข Assist with testing new or modified reports using end-user input.
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, or a related field required; industry certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or equivalent, are preferred.
โ€ข Working knowledge of DAX, Power BI and/or Tableau reporting platforms, Excel, or equivalent tools.
โ€ข 1-2+ years of relevant experience in report writing, dashboards, Power BI and/or Tableau, and data architecture fundamentals.
โ€ข Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
โ€ข Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively with end users, tell data-driven stories, and translate technical concepts into clear, accessible language.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Strong understanding of relational database concepts such as data relationships and table joins.
โ€ข Ability to write and understand Power Query formulas, DAX, filter data, and perform table joins in Power BI.
โ€ข Understanding of data types such as date, datetime, etc.
โ€ข Knowledge of basic SQL and simple SELECT statements.
โ€ข Familiarity with data modeling concepts such as star schema.
โ€ข Familiarity with Dynamics 365 F&O ERP, Microsoft CE, Power Apps, and Dataverse data sources.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to analyze reporting issues, identify potential data inconsistencies, and help translate business processes into clear reporting requirements. Demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to support technical problem-solving in a production reporting environment.

Compensation
Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 annually
