Job description

Primary Purpose

The Cage Repair Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining Live Haul chicken cages and supporting routine maintenance within the Live Holding Shed. This role ensures safe, efficient operations and helps maintain equipment reliability for nightly production.

Schedule
  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday-Friday
  • Occasional Saturday work as scheduled
 
Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cage Repairs - Inspect, repair, and rebuild Live Haul cages using welding tools, hand tools, and basic fabrication techniques.
  • General Maintenance Support - Assist with additional tasks in the Live Holding Shed as needed, including unplanned or emergency repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance - Follow all PPE requirements, maintain a safe work area, and report unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
  • Work Quality - Complete repairs to a high standard to support equipment longevity, animal welfare, and operational flow.
  • Equipment Operation - Safely operate forklifts and other equipment used for cage movement and staging.
 
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of related work experience in maintenance, repair, or industrial operations
  • Basic welding knowledge (MIG preferred)
  • Valid forklift license or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, outdoor/warehouse environment with exposure to weather, noise, and live poultry
