What does a repair associate do?

A Repair Associate is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and fixing a variety of products or equipment, such as electronics, appliances, or clothing. They assess damage, determine the best method of repair, and use specialized tools to restore items to working condition. Repair Associates may also interact with customers, provide estimates, and ensure that repairs meet quality standards. Their role is essential in keeping products functioning and extending their lifespan.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a repair associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Repair Associate, you need strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with troubleshooting and repairing equipment, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training. Familiarity with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and inventory management systems is typically required. Excellent problem-solving skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure help set top performers apart. These skills ensure timely and effective repairs, customer satisfaction, and smooth operations in maintenance or service environments.

What are some common challenges repair associates face, and how can they effectively manage them?

Repair Associates often encounter challenges such as diagnosing complex issues, working under time constraints, and keeping up with evolving technologies or products. This is a sales-forward position: your #1 job is making sure every customer leaves protected and happy — attaching screen protectors and accessories, enrolling them in our device-protection plans, and earning glowing reviews.

What You'll Do

  • Recommend and sell device-protection plans and coverage to customers
  • Attach screen protectors and accessories to repairs and sales
  • Deliver a standout experience that earns 5-star reviews
  • Build packing lists and log incoming devices into our system
  • Handle customer email and phone follow-ups
  • Run parts inventory counts and keep the store clean and sharp

What We're Looking For

  • Reliable, punctual, and organized
  • Comfortable with phones, computers, and learning new tools
  • Retail, sales, or customer-service experience is a plus (not required)

Schedule & Pay

  • $16.00/hour plus a monthly performance bonus for hitting sales goals
  • ~25 hours per week, concentrated Tuesday–Friday, afternoons through close (our busiest hours)
  • Potential to grow toward full-time as we get busier

What We Offer

  • Full paid training — no repair experience needed
  • Clear goals with a real bonus for hitting them
  • A friendly, fast-paced small-shop team where your work is noticed
  • Room to grow into more hours and responsibility

Ready to sell, smile, and grow with us? Apply now — we review every application.

Company Description

Orada Tech Repair is an independent repair shop in Hazlet, New Jersey. We fix phones, tablets, laptops, computers and game consoles — cracked screens, dead batteries, charge ports, water damage, and the board-level work most shops send out.

No appointment needed. Walk in, tell us what happened, and in most cases you'll have it back the same day. We also come to you when that's easier.

We serve Hazlet, Keyport, Keansburg and the surrounding Monmouth County towns, and we back our screen repairs with protection that most shops charge extra for.
