Aircrew Flight Equipment Technician
Location: Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Contract: Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) Services Strategic Technology Institute, Inc. is seeking qualified Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) Technicians to support AFE maintenance operations at Columbus Air Force Base, MS. The selected candidate will inspect, repair, repack, modify, document, and maintain critical flight-safety and survival equipment in support of the Air Force mission. Responsibilities
Perform recurring inspections, repairs, repacking, modifications, and documentation for aircraft-installed parachutes, life rafts, flotation equipment, harnesses, and related AFE equipment. Repair and modify anti-G garments, torso harnesses, dual helmet visor snap fittings, flight suits, and flight jackets. Fabricate, repair, and modify Vision Restriction Devices (VRDs), as required. Conduct inspection and maintenance support for T-6 and T-38 parachute presses, as directed. Track inspections and subcomponents using the required AFE documentation system. Perform work in accordance with AFMAN 11-301, applicable technical orders, operating instructions, safety requirements, and contract requirements. Support required two-person inspections of parachute assemblies. Maintain a clean, safe, professional work area and safeguard Government-furnished equipment and materials. Support quality-control procedures, reporting requirements, and COR-directed inspections. Complete assigned maintenance actions within required timelines, generally within five duty days of equipment receipt. Required Qualifications
Applicants must have completed one or more of the following: Aircrew Life Support technical training, AFSC 1T1X1. Survival Equipment technical training, AFSC 2A7X4. Aircrew Flight Equipment technical training, AFSC 1P0X1. Equivalent sister-service AFE, survival equipment, or life-support training. FAA Senior Parachute Rigger certification. FAA Master Parachute Rigger certification. Additional Requirements
Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently. Ability to work on-site at Columbus AFB, Mississippi, during normal duty hours. Ability to meet installation access, security, and credentialing requirements. Strong attention to detail, safety, documentation, and quality-control standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a qualified two-person inspection team. Professional appearance and conduct consistent with work in a military installation environment. Preferred Qualifications
Prior military or civilian AFE, parachute maintenance, survival equipment, or life-support experience. Experience with T-6 or T-38 aircraft AFE systems. Familiarity with AFMAN 11-301, Air Force Technical Orders, and AFE documentation requirements. FAA parachute-rigger credentials and demonstrated parachute inspection/repacking experience.
