Job description

Job Purpose Statement:
The position is responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks, assembly of orders, and the movement of materials to and from storage locations. This position reports to a supervisor or team lead.
Summary of Responsibility:
• Select required materials from storage areas and assemble in orders, pack and/or repack materials as required, apply labels, stickers or markers and transport into staging areas.
• Unload and load trucks.
• Safely operate material handling equipment, industrial trucks, hand trucks, and forklifts.
• Audit count of finished goods as received from production and completes reports.
• Schedule the delivery of component materials to work area.
• Detect and report faulty operation defective or unusual material conditions.
• Maintain required checks of power handling equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to prescribed safety rules and regulations.
• Performs pre-operation check of forklift.
• Works from posted production schedule.
• Insures adequate parts are maintained.
• Prepares barcode and inventory control information for pallets and for shipping.
• Removes finished product to wrapping machine and wraps product.
• Prepares and turns in report at end of shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
• High School diploma/GED required, or commit to obtain a GED with Carlstar sponsored GED program within 12 months of hire date.
• Must be willing to work any shifts and overtime.
• Basic reading, writing, arithmetic skills.
• Successfully pass a background check and reference check, drug test and physical exam.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift certification/license
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Computer skills required.
• Previous manufacturing and/or distribution experience.
• Experience in lean, kaizen, and high performance work team.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated experience with RF (hand-held WMS equipment).
• 1 year experience in a manufacturing/distribution operation in the same or similar job position.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to provide oral and written communication to all levels of employees within the company.
• Ability to work well independently or in a team environment.
