Job description

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall direction of home health care clinical services and has overall responsibility for the quality of services provided and supervision of clinical staff. The Director of Nursing assures coordination of care for clients and provides overall clinical supervision of all clients. This will include the monitoring, reviewing and maintenance of patient care documentation according to company policy. The position will require office and, if necessary, some fieldwork.

Responsibilities

·         Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care.

·         Oversee the recruitment and continued employee development of nursing staff.

·         Supervise and direct professional administrative personnel and nursing care provided by RNs and LPNs.

·         Ensure proper charting and documentation of care, medications and treatment.

·         Maintain current knowledge of applicable managed care, Medicare and state Medicaid regulations, reimbursement systems and methodology.

·         Participate in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program.

·         On-call rotation as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

Qualifications

·         Must be a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Ohio.

·         Three years of home health nursing experience and one year of DON or Administrator experience in a home health agency.

·         Working knowledge of Medicare.

·         Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations (including the Medicare Conditions of Participation) and CHAP standards

·         Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care primarily to the geriatric population and the pediatric and adult population with developmental disabilities.

·         Working knowledge of EMR software and OASIS

·         Working knowledge of SHP and Riversoft systems (preferred but not required)

·         Professional demeanor and appearance.

·         Excellent oral and written skills.
