Job description

Electric Serviceman Lucedale

Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting all activities in a local office with primary emphasis on customer service and electric operations. This position will be required to perform most tasks related to these activities as well as support other functional areas such as Engineering, Marketing, Vegetation Management, Stores, and Transmission. This position is covered by the memorandum of agreement.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting all functional areas in local operations which includes: setting and removing meters, supporting field collection activities, installation of new services as well as maintaining the distribution system, performing distribution and transmission switching, restoration of service, adhering to all compliance requirements, and supporting marketing efforts. This job will also be responsible for working with other team members on larger projects on a frequent basis.

Job Requirements

  • Candidates must have experience in providing electric service to new and existing customers.
  • Knowledge of distribution construction, operation, and maintenance is required. Knowledge of substation and transmission operations is preferred. 
  • Candidates must have basic computer skills and the ability to develop computer skills with the following software: ARMS, DISTGIS, Microsoft XP Office Products, and other software applications as required. 
  • Candidates must also have interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers and employees. 
  • In this role the employee is required to work alone most of the time and must be committed to safety and highly self motivated. 
  • In this position it is imperative that the successful candidate stay abreast of all process and procedural changes as they relate to local operations.
  • The ability to work with customers and fellow employees to solve problems is a must.
  • Behavior must reflect Principle Centered Leadership, Our Values, and MPC Safety Principles and Beliefs. 
  • Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the service center or willing to relocate within 30 minutes within 6 months of starting the job. 
  • In this position it is required that you be available for after hours call out.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience working as a trouble shooter and as a first responder to trouble after hours is highly preferred 
  • Possess a basic knowledge of all functional areas of Customer Services 
  • Exhibit working knowledge of distribution, substation, and transmission operations
