Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Designer position focuses on Electrical Design within our Renewable Energy group. A successful Designer will create construction documents and details, using AutoCAD and Revit, to support the project teams. The preferred applicant will have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow in their career. The Designer will report to a Crew Focused Design Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create site specific, electrical details, drawings and supporting documents using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Produce/modify cable schedule documents using Excel
  • Produce cable and equipment labels
  • Ensure proper dimensions of layout of equipment, devices, and raceways through careful reading of specs or construction and engineering plans
  • Communicate technical aspects of a project with other disciplines in the department
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and documents
  • Support the broader team in evaluation of new technologies to increase design efficiency
  • Produce internal reference documents and standards guidelines working with a team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree or 2-year associate’s degree with minimum 2 years on the job experience required
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Familiar with the techniques of setting up sheets and views in Revit
  • Ability to size electrical cables/conductors and raceways including derating and voltage drop
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code among other code books, and the ability to read and navigate through them
  • General knowledge of construction principles, processes, and plans
  • Reviewing a wide variety of construction documents
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Solid interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values: Genuine, We Not I, All In
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong work ethic
