Job description

We are seeking an experienced Permit Project Manager to support renewable energy construction projects, including solar, wind, battery energy storage, transmission, and substation infrastructure. This role is responsible for managing the permitting process, coordinating with regulatory agencies and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, quality, and safety objectives. The ideal candidate has strong project management experience, knowledge of permitting and regulatory compliance, and the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage permitting activities for renewable energy construction projects across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with AHJs and regulatory agencies to secure required permits.
  • Prepare, review, and submit permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • Interpret and apply building codes, zoning regulations, environmental requirements, and permitting standards.
  • Monitor project schedules, productivity, work quality, budget, and safety performance.
  • Support contractor and vendor coordination throughout project execution.
  • Conduct project walk-downs, validate completed work, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Identify permitting and project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate updates to project teams.
  • Track permit status, maintain documentation, and provide regular progress reporting.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, development, procurement, and project management teams.
  • Assist with contract administration, scope management, budget oversight, and project scheduling.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, landowners, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Promote safety standards, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel to project sites as needed (up to 25%).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or a related field.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • 5 10 years of project management experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, construction, renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong knowledge of permitting processes, building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
