OCT Consulting is a business management and technology consulting firm that supports Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

OCT is looking for a Technical Writer to support our client. The client directs, administers, and provides guidance to the DoD Components and DoD representatives to U.S. missions. Technical Writer will assist with editorial support, communication plans, and crafting critical documents, reports, summaries, and studies for senior leadership and staff.

Role:

● Draft and revise scientific/technical documentation in simple languages to be understood by a wide range of stakeholders

● Produces documentation training materials, white papers, user manuals, reports, process diagrams and workflows, presentations, strategic plans, guidance, communications plans, studies, briefings, and meeting minutes/notes. Prepares such materials in a variety of forms (documents, PowerPoints, web pages, etc.)

● Reviews and edits project critical documents and artifacts for spelling, grammar, context, flow, and clarity; Precision in execution is required

● Manage writing multiple projects with various deadlines

● Support in analyzing, developing, and editing presentations, manuals, data diagrams, and complex reports

● Collaborate with program office staff to research and publish reports

● Supports the workflow process to ensure the successful completion of each revision cycle and distribution of technical publications

● Complies with established quality processes to ensure accuracy, ease of use, and timely delivery of each revision cycle content

● Writes technical publications content as directed

● Conducts reviews and analyzes technical documents to gain a thorough understanding of how complex systems operate and how they are to be integrated into technical manuals to provide the end user with the level of text and graphics

● Consults with internal/ external customers and engineering to create/revise technical manuals to support the department/corporate operating priorities

● Provide input to management on new processes or technology for integration into the technical publications business model

● Assist in developing solutions for overcoming the technology/technical issues introduced by outside suppliers for incorporation into existing manuals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree with a major in English, Communications, Journalism or related field preferred.

● Minimum of 8 years prior experience in technical writing/communications strategy and implementation

● At least 8 years of experience writing for federal government acquisitions and program management-related organizations or equivalent organizations.

● Must have experience writing and editing complex technical material drafted by others using established practices, standards, and guidance including the application of technical communications.

● Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented style.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Proficiency in Microsoft and Google suite.

Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance..
