Remote Working information

What is remote working?

A remote working job is a position that allows employees to perform their duties from a location outside of a traditional office, typically from home or another remote setting. This setup relies on digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and collaboration software to stay connected with teams. Remote work offers flexibility in terms of location and often working hours, depending on the employer's policies. It can be full-time, part-time, or freelance, depending on the job and industry. Many companies have adopted remote work to improve work-life balance and access global talent.

What can I expect from the team culture and communication style in fully remote roles?

In fully remote roles, team communication often relies on messaging apps, video calls, and project management platforms to keep everyone connected and aligned. You can expect a culture that values proactive updates, regular check-ins, and clear documentation to ensure transparency and accountability. Many remote teams foster a collaborative environment through virtual meetings, online social events, and shared digital spaces for informal chats. While flexibility is a key benefit, strong communication skills and self-motivation are crucial to staying engaged and contributing to team goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote working, and why are they important?

To thrive in a remote working role, strong self-discipline, time management, and proficiency in digital collaboration platforms are essential, typically supported by experience in a relevant field. Familiarity with tools such as Zoom, Slack, project management software (like Asana or Trello), and secure VPNs is often required. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this environment. These qualities enable productivity and effective team contribution regardless of location, which is critical to remote work success.

In this full-time role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services, focusing on therapy, counseling, and case management for diverse populations.

About the Organization

Primary Care Counseling Services is an established community health clinic located in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to providing holistic healthcare solutions to underserved populations. Our mission is to promote mental health awareness and access to essential services, fostering a compassionate environment for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. As a part of our team, you will contribute to a meaningful cause that prioritizes community support and individual growth.

Work Environment

This position offers a fully remote working experience enhanced by the latest telehealth technology, allowing you to connect with clients comfortably from your home or any chosen location. While primarily virtual, collaboration with a multidisciplinary teamโ€”including psychiatrists, psychologists, and other social workersโ€”will be encouraged through various digital platforms. You will have the flexibility to maintain a work-life balance, with the option to adjust your schedule to meet client needs, including evenings and weekends when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients to identify mental health needs, strengths, and challenges.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that align with each client's unique circumstances and goals.
  • Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family counseling aimed at promoting mental health and coping strategies.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate client progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Create crisis intervention strategies for clients experiencing acute psychological distress, ensuring immediate support and safety.
  • Document all client interactions meticulously, maintaining up-to-date and accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development by staying current with industry research, best practices, and evolving methodologies in mental health care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will support a diverse client population, including individuals dealing with a wide range of challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and significant life transitions (e.g., divorce, grief). Your work will help empower clients to navigate their unique circumstances, fostering resilience and personal growth while building supportive community connections.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • A current, valid state license to practice as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon.
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills suitable for building rapport with clients from varied backgrounds.
  • A strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a remote team.
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a community health clinic or outpatient program is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with teletherapy practices and platforms for delivering care effectively in a virtual format.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and emergency response strategies in mental health settings.
Compensation and Benefits

This rewarding position comes with a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer:

  • An Employee Assistance Program designed to provide mental health support and ensure your well-being.
  • A retirement savings plan featuring employer matching contributions to help secure your financial future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay to promote work-life balance.
  • Access to continuing education opportunities, alongside ample support for professional growth and certification.
  • Career advancement opportunities within our community health framework, empowering you to take on additional roles and responsibilities as you progress.
