Job description

Summary

We Write Code is looking for an expert Full Stack Java Developer who knows Spring Boot framework and best practices inside and out for a contract position in the Greenville, SC area. If you can look at the codebase and know how to improve it, we need you! We have an exciting opportunity for you to be the SME on project migrating and modernizing legacy codebases to Spring Boot.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Java Software Developer working with Spring Boot
  • Strong ORM/data layer experience (PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, etc.)
  • Experience with JUnit and unit testing in general.
  • Front-end development experience with React
  • A pragmatic approach to daily AI utilization (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to optimize your development workflow, speed up documentation, or troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Source control management (i.e. Git)
  • Experience working with an Agile tech team
  • Strong communication skills and able to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Location and Hours:

This is a full-time position for We Write Code located in Des Moines, IA. Employees located in the Des Moines Metro will work hybrid in the office two days/week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Candidates must be residents of the United States, and must be located in the United States for the duration of the contract.
