A Day in the Life

As a Senior Workday Projects & Financials Analyst, you'll serve as a hands-on functional and technical expert responsible for the configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of Workday Financials and Projects. Workday remains our system of record, but this role is not siloed to it, you'll partner with business leaders, end users, and the owners of adjacent enterprise applications (e.g., Coupa for procurement, HighRadius for accounts receivable/cash application, and Salesforce for CRM) to design end-to-end business processes that make sense across the broader systems landscape, not just within Workday.

Reporting to Director, Workday Projects & Financials, this is a high-impact role suited for a confident communicator who can engage directly with end users, lead small to mid-sized projects independently, and coordinate across cross-functional teams, including teams outside the Workday ecosystem, to deliver outcomes. The compensation range for this role is $125,000 - $155,000 USD in addition to an annual bonus (5%), commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. We welcome candidates based in both the United States and Canada; compensation for Canada-based hires will be aligned to the local market. The role can be based remotely, with a preference for candidates located near one of our locations in Irvine, CA; Denver, CO; Little Rock, AR; or Calgary, AB.

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

Strategic Business Analysis & Advisory

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday Financials, Projects, Project Billing, and Customer Accounts functionality

  • Understand business problems and opportunities and recommend the right solution, whether that's a Workday-native configuration or a process design that spans Workday and adjacent enterprise applications, aligned with organizational goals

  • Evaluate how Workday Financials and Projects processes intersect with adjacent enterprise applications, including Coupa (procurement), HighRadius (accounts receivable/cash application), and Salesforce (CRM), recommending end-to-end process designs that keep Workday as the system of record while accounting for upstream and downstream systems

  • Provide strategic recommendations for current and upcoming product roadmap items; participate in product road mapping and backlog prioritization based on business value

  • Maintain current knowledge of Workday release cycles, new features, and industry best practices to proactively surface relevant enhancements

Workday Configuration & Security Administration

  • Perform Workday tenant configuration and administrative functions including business process design, condition rules, notifications, and security assignments

  • Configure and maintain Workday Projects modules including Budgeting, Resource Forecasting, Project/Task Management, Project Financials

  • Administer and maintain the Workday security model, including security groups (role-based, user-based, and intersection), domain and business process security policies, and security audit and compliance monitoring

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Workday system issues, escalation priorities, and post-production support

Project Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Lead small to mid-sized projects end-to-end, including scoping, workplan development, stakeholder alignment, and delivery

  • Collaborate with technical peers of Coupa, HighRadius, Salesforce, and other enterprise applications to determine where a process should live natively in Workday versus be handed off to, or informed by, another platform, and design accordingly

  • Facilitate meetings, working sessions, and status communications tailored to audience and deliverable

  • Support change management planning and execution; contribute to the development of training materials, SOPs, and process documentation

End User Engagement & Support

  • Serve as a confident, approachable point of contact for end users, translating technical concepts into plain language and building strong working relationships across business functions

  • Proactively identify and resolve user pain points through system improvements, training, and process refinement, whether the fix lives in Workday or requires coordination with another application owner

  • Support issue resolution by evaluating business impact of defects and partnering with IT on remediation plans; suggest and implement methods to measure product adoption and end user impact

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of Workday functional experience, with deep hands-on expertise in Financials and Projects modules

  • Demonstrated experience with the Workday security model, including configuration and administration of security groups, domain policies, and business process security

  • Strong understanding of Workday tenant administration and business process configuration

  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond a single platform, understanding how Workday Financials and Projects fit within a broader enterprise applications ecosystem (e.g., procurement, expense, or CRM platforms) and designing processes accordingly

  • Experience leading small projects and coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Strong verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present and engage end users and business stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to analyze and document backend system information including data mapping and integration/microservice components

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and familiarity with project and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet)

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams

  • Experience with 3rd party and vendor relationship management

  • Proven track record in operational business process improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday Certified in one or more of: Financials, Projects, Project Billing, Contracts to Cash

  • Workday Security certification or equivalent hands-on security administration experience

  • Experience in a professional services or project-based business environment

  • Familiarity with Workday Extend, Prism Analytics, or Adaptive Planning
