What is remote work?

Remote work refers to a work arrangement where employees perform their job duties outside of a traditional office environment, often from home or another location of their choice. This setup leverages digital technology to communicate and collaborate with coworkers and clients. Remote work offers flexibility in terms of work location and sometimes hours, making it a popular option for both employers and employees. It can increase productivity, improve work-life balance, and reduce commuting time and costs. However, it also requires discipline, good communication skills, and reliable internet access.

To thrive in remote work, you need strong self-management, time management, and digital literacy skills, along with relevant qualifications for your specific job role. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, Trello, and cloud-based document platforms is typically required. Job description

Position Overview

Urban Mental and Counseling Center is actively seeking dedicated and qualified Mental Health Counselors to join our team in a full-time capacity. This remote role allows licensed professionals to provide high-quality, compassionate mental health services to clients, enabling them to navigate their challenges and achieve personal growth. Our comprehensive approach ensures that each client receives tailored, evidence-based treatment that aligns with their unique needs.

About the Organization

Located in Lakewood, New Jersey, Urban Mental and Counseling Center is dedicated to offering individualized mental health care that empowers individuals on their journey toward fulfillment. We pride ourselves on a team of licensed counselors who utilize best practices in therapy to support clients in a compassionate and professional setting. Our center is designed to foster trust, confidentiality, and an environment where clients feel safe and supported as they work on their mental health.

Work Environment

As a Mental Health Counselor with Urban Mental and Counseling Center, you will operate primarily in a remote work environment, allowing for flexibility in your schedule while still being integrated into our supportive outpatient practice structure. The position provides the best of both worlds: the autonomy of home-based work and the collaborative spirit of a private practice. Our team emphasizes regular communication, peer consultation, and a culture of shared learning, ensuring you stay connected and supported.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to accurately identify clients' mental health concerns and develop effective, personalized treatment plans that reflect their goals.
  • Provide individualized therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques โ€“ such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or mindfulness practices โ€“ tailored to each client's specific needs.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to establish clear therapeutic goals, track their progress, and make necessary adjustments to treatment as needed.
  • Offer teletherapy options for clients who prefer virtual sessions, ensuring that accessibility and convenience are prioritized in our service delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation to meet ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements, ensuring all client records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, attending workshops and training sessions to enhance your clinical skills and stay abreast of new developments in the mental health field.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on serving a diverse client population that includes adolescents, adults, and families, each facing various challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions. You will have the opportunity to impact the lives of clients from different backgrounds, working towards strategies that promote resilience and healing.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must:

  • Possess a current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • Hold a masterโ€™s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills that foster a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach to understanding clients' experiences and challenges.
  • Have proficient organizational and time-management skills to effectively juggle client caseload and associated administrative tasks.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates with experience in evidence-based therapy practices, trauma-informed care, and a demonstrated history of working with diverse populations will have a distinct advantage. Familiarity with telehealth delivery methods and technology will also enhance your effectiveness in providing care.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and caseload. Our organization fosters a rewarding work environment that includes:

  • Flexible work schedules to promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive administrative support to facilitate billing, scheduling, and insurance processing.
  • Reimbursement options for continuing education to support your professional growth and development.
  • Opportunities for professional advancement within the private practice setting.
  • A collaborative atmosphere where regular peer consultation and supervision provide additional support and learning opportunities.
  • Professional autonomy that allows you to customize treatment plans based on your expertise and clients' unique needs.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Urban Mental and Counseling Center, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members. As a licensed counselor, you will have opportunities to expand your skills through professional workshops and training programs. Our supportive environment encourages intra-organizational advancement, allowing you to grow your career while positively impacting the community.
