We are seeking a Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer to support enterprise customers throughout the Chicago, Illinois territory. In this customer-facing role, you will partner with Account Managers, channel partners, and cross-functional teams to provide technical leadership throughout the sales cycle. You will design and position HPE Networking solutions, deliver technical presentations and demonstrations, lead proof of concepts, and serve as a trusted advisor helping customers modernize their networking environments while driving business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Territory Managers to identify, qualify, and advance sales opportunities through closure.
  • Support enterprise customers by designing networking solutions aligned to business and technical requirements.
  • Conduct technical discovery sessions, customer presentations, demonstrations, and solution workshops.
  • Develop and document solution architectures, technical recommendations, and customer proposals.
  • Deliver Proof of Concepts (POCs), demonstrations, and solution validations to showcase HPE Networking capabilities.
  • Position HPE Networking solutions against competitive offerings and communicate key technical differentiators.
  • Support RFP responses, technical evaluations, and complex customer engagements.
  • Collaborate with channel partners, resellers, and internal teams to drive customer success and revenue growth.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with customers across technical and business organizations.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive technologies, industry trends, and emerging networking solutions.
  • Participate in account planning activities and provide technical expertise throughout the sales process.
  • Stay current on HPE Networking technologies, including Aruba and Juniper solutions.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering, systems engineering, network architecture, technical consulting, or related networking roles.
  • Experience supporting enterprise sales teams in customer-facing environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise networking solutions.
  • Strong background working with routing, switching, wireless, and network security technologies.
  • Experience participating in technical sales engagements, demonstrations, workshops, and customer presentations.
  • Experience working with channel partners, VARs, or systems integrators preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as Aruba, HPE, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Reside near Chicago, IL or be open to supporting the Chicago territory with the ability to travel approximately 40%-60% throughout the assigned territory.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, wireless LAN, network security, and network access solutions.
  • Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking expertise required.
  • Knowledge of cloud-managed networking, SD-WAN, network automation, and AI-driven operations platforms preferred.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into customer-focused business outcomes.
  • Strong consultative selling and solution positioning skills.
