Job description

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, LLC office in Boston, MA.

Engineer and optimize software-defined networking solutions, including the integration of Open Virtual Network (OVN) with OpenShift's Cluster Network Operator (CNO) for DPU-offloaded workloads.

What You Will Do:

  • Architect, design, and develop software to integrate NVIDIA's Doca Platform Framework (DPF) and Data Processing Unit (DPU) hardware with the Red Hat OpenShift container platform.
  • Develop and implement end-to-end automation frameworks for the testing and validation of the DPF Operator on OpenShift, ensuring robust performance and reliability in complex, multi-node cluster environments, and conduct performance analysis and benchmarking of DPU-offloaded networking to validate and document high-throughput and low-latency capabilities.
  • Lead the integration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS (RHCOS) with BlueField Boot (BFB) and HyperShift to enhance the deployment and management of DPU-accelerated OpenShift clusters.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to troubleshoot complex technical issues, optimize system performance, and document platform-specific deployment and configuration changes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and mentorship on cloud-native networking and hardware acceleration.
  • Contribute to the core development of installation and provisioning technologies for edge computing, including the Assisted Installer, Single Node OpenShift (SNO), and image-based installation workflows.
  • Develop and enhance image-based OpenShift installation processes, enabling rapid, scalable, and repeatable deployments of pre-configured and validated Single Node OpenShift instances for edge and remote locations.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Software Engineering or related field and twelve (12) years of experience in the job offered or related role.
  • Must have ten (10) years of experience with: Linux networking and the Kubernetes networking model (CNI); and Go and/or Python programming for cloud-native development.
  • Must have eight (8) years of experience with: developing and integrating solutions with the Red Hat OpenShift container platform; and cloud-native installation and provisioning technologies, including image-based installers and solutions for edge.
  • Must have five (5) years of experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, specifically Open Virtual Network (OVN).
