Complex Construction Defect Claims Adjuster - Remote
Upland Capital Group, Inc. is an AM Best rated "A-" VIII specialty property/casualty insurer headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Through its wholly owned insurance carrier, Upland Specialty Insurance Company, the company markets, underwrites and services specialty insurance products in select markets to include excess transportation, construction casualty, excess casualty, primary general liability, excess public entity, professional liability errors and omissions as well as excess cyber liability.

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting challenges every day. We are seeking a Complex Construction Defect Claims Adjuster to join our amazing team.
Primary Function:
Works from home under limited supervision and within given authority, adjudicates to resolution Property & Casualty Claims nationwide of variable severity, complexity. This position will primarily handle Construction Defect claims. Claims handling duties may also include the following primary and excess lines of business: Construction Liability, General Liability, Commercial Auto Liability, Professional Liability, Cyber Liability, and Public Entity liability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews policy language and coverage position letters
  • Reviews, analyzes, and recommends reserves
  • Reviews and leads the investigation of claims within given inventory
  • Reviews and leads litigation management efforts
  • Presents claims for reserve and/or settlement authority
  • Other Essential Duties include but not limited:
    • Works closely with Underwriting
    • Provides guidance and feedback for more junior claims personnel
    • Presents to Sr. Leadership as necessary
    • Travel 10-15% to offsite meetings, seminars, mediations, trials, etc. as necessary

Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Construction Defect claims handling, coverage analysis, and litigation experience
  • Adjuster licenses as necessary across the United States (preferred)
  • Ability to self-manage in a work-from-home environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work across multiple business functions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and out of the box

Disclosures:
Pay Estimate: $100,000 - $190,000
Other compensation: annual incentive program
