Remote Web Project Manager information

What is a remote web project manager?

A Remote Web Project Manager oversees web development projects while working from a remote location. They coordinate between clients, designers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Their responsibilities include project planning, task assignment, progress tracking, and risk management, all facilitated through digital communication tools. Remote Web Project Managers must be skilled in leadership, communication, and various project management methodologies to effectively lead distributed teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote web project manager?

To thrive as a Remote Web Project Manager, you need expertise in project management methodologies, web development processes, and a background in digital or IT project management—often supported by a bachelor's degree and certifications like PMP or Agile/Scrum. Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana, as well as web technologies and collaboration platforms, is typically required. Outstanding communication, leadership, and time-management skills are essential to coordinate remote teams and manage client expectations. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with clear stakeholder alignment in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote web project managers, and how can they be effectively addressed?

Remote Web Project Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating across different time zones, ensuring clear communication among distributed team members, and maintaining project momentum without in-person supervision. Effective strategies include utilizing robust project management tools, establishing regular check-ins, and setting clear expectations for deliverables and timelines. Building a culture of transparency and fostering open communication channels can also help address misunderstandings and keep projects on track.

  • Partner with Web, UX and SEO to improve site structure, navigation, page hierarchy and content discoverability.
  • Connect DigiCert's corporate narrative with its solutions, products, use cases, resources and calls to action.
  • Conduct content audits and use audience, search and performance data to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Establish plans to create, improve, consolidate, repurpose, or retire content.
  • Ensure web content supports organic search, AI-powered discovery, accessibility, localization and conversion.

  • Manage and develop the copyeditor, setting clear priorities and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications and Brand to uphold DigiCert's voice, style and editorial standards.
  • Work with Product, Legal, and technical experts to substantiate claims and protect credibility.

Support integrated editorial planning

  • Co-lead DigiCert's global editorial calendar with the Corporate Communications leader.
  • Bring a web, audience and customer-journey perspective to editorial decisions.
  • Connect corporate news, thought leadership, campaigns, launches, and customer stories through coordinated planning.
  • Translate major narratives and content investments into web experiences that extend their reach and value.
  • Identify opportunities for DigiCert to lead conversations across AI trust, quantum readiness, PKI modernization, machine identity, and digital trust.

What you will have

  • 8+ years of experience in web content strategy, UX writing, digital content, editorial leadership or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading web content for an enterprise technology, cybersecurity, SaaS or similarly complex organization.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating strategic web thinking and exceptional writing.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling content for business and technical audiences.
  • Experience planning content around customer journeys and business objectives.
  • Working knowledge of information architecture, SEO, digital accessibility, content governance, and conversion principles.
  • Experience using analytics, search data, and testing to improve content performance.
  • Familiarity with enterprise content-management systems and modern publishing workflows.
  • Experience managing writers, editors, agencies, or other contributors.
  • A collaborative working style and a record of leading through influence across functions.
  • Strong project-management skills and the ability to prioritize competing needs.
